Billy Hughes founded the business in 1948 using a horse and cart. He was a well known character around York. Melvyn joined his business as soon as he left school and took over when Billy retired.
We know that moving home or office is a major event in your life - and often a notoriously stressful one. We aim to reduce your stress with our friendly, professional and very efficient service. As well as our removals service, we are storage specialists and can even do the packing for you if required!
You can feel comfortable in the knowledge that we are members of BAR (The British Association of Removers). BAR is the largest established and recognised trade association for removal companies. All member companies must meet strict standards and are regularly inspected to ensure that their facilities, equipment, staff training and operational procedures remain at the highest level. In fact fewer than 700 removal companies in the whole of the UK can claim to meet the stringent and high standards required.
In partnership with our second hand furniture warehouse, Aladdin’s Cave, Hughes Removals can also carry out complete house clearances for unwanted furniture and other items.
